sometimes people make special connections to animals.
sometimes they bond very deeply and are real friends.
yesterday was the end of such a friendship that lasted ten wonderful years.
I'm very sorry, Chris. All of us understand and grieve with you.

Thanks, Blondie, for helping me prepare for today's lesson. I'm out of ink, so I had to write it out by hand.
You asked if Sarie and Martinus have children. They have 3.
Somehow, it seems Sarie's declaration of faith sounds very Watchtoweresque.

i read an article in the ny times recently discussing the negative nature of social media.
it discussed why instagram is so much more pernicious than facebook.
professionals and govts can use facebook to post new thoughts or ideas, even restaurants post specials and menus etc.. instagram on the other hand encourages people to post in a distilled down fashion the best parts of their lives.
This is where social media stalking comes into play. Don't deny it. Everyone does it. The problem arises from people who see only the best of their friends lives. They in turn think their own lives don't measure up then become depressed. I know, I know this affects mostly weak minded people who don't have a grip on reality. Still, it's a phenomenon of the 21st Century.
Well, I don't know about the weak minded part, but you nailed the portion I highlighted. That's precisely how it hit me initially: my life was nothing compared to the happy family life of others portrayed on IG/FB. Of course, I have gotten over that negativity.
We have a very large JW FB community up and down the state that reaches out far and wide . . .
Thanks!

i've been drinking 1 tbs with a glass of water twice daily for digestion for about 3 weeks now.
i've found it helps, but it also acts as an appetite suppressant; i've lost several pounds since using it.
i'm consuming fewer calories because i'm just not as hungry as before.
Hi Poppers:
Yes, as a detoxifier and aid to digestion, relieving upset stomach. Good news about weight loss! Gotta get back on it.
Thanks.

a misprint is in tonight's bible reading.
wouldn't you know i have the bible reading assignment.
wish i could think of a way to point it out to all of the cognitively dissonant people.. :).
When I worked on AID TO BIBLE UNDERSTANDING one of the running heads was off register. I sent it back and the printed result was "Bablyon the Great."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/messiah_complex.
a messiah complex (also known as the christ complex or savior complex ) is a state of mind in which an individual holds a belief that they are, or are destined to become, a savior .
the term "messiah complex" is not addressed in the diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders (dsm) , but symptoms of the disorder closely resemble those found in individuals suffering from grandiose delusions (gd) or delusions of grandeur.

So I am still affected by JWism, although I am recovering. It's been about 3 years. I am getting better. Will I ever be "normal", probably not.
DD
Understood, DD. So well put.
Apart from my own "compound-complex" (a grammatical term), I relate totally to the pressure of thinking oneself anointed, whether in the JW sense or in a looser form. I was surrounded from early youth by the so-called anointed remnant. Service to God and fellow man had been THE prime directive. Though essentially I'm out, yet I'm still in because of dear family and friends. As a little boy I was obsessed with religion and all its trappings. It had nothing to do with being force fed by family (they followed me). I guess I was a baby messiah -- ludicrous.
Thanks, designs and cofty, for commenting on what I shared.
Best wishes, All.

Greetings, frankiespeakin:
NOT IN HIS IMAGE, by John Lamb Lash, is one of many studies on salvationism and the redeemer complex. There were many claimants to the role of messiah during Roman rule. The Zealots, a small band of fanatical insurgent Jews, were primarily responsible for Rome's initially reluctant destruction of the entire nation of an otherwise law-abiding Jewish population.
The so-called pagans had no concept of sin, hence no need for redemption. Interesting, too, is what Lamb references as the perpertrator-victim complex where one group of men metes out divine punishment to another -- the victims -- with God's approval. So the subjugated pagans were forced to look for future relief from the messiah whose "chosen" instrument -- sinners themselves -- were practicing cruelty but preaching redemption.

the watchtower says:.
true christians keep clear of false worship, rejecting false religious teachings.
this means that we avoid exposure to religious programs on radio and television as well as religious literature that promotes lies about god and his word.
Excellent points, opusdei1972:
Earlier today I was wondering -- out of the blue -- why God's so-called channel of truth would require any outside research material in the first place. Of course, reality dictates that all such theological matters be studied, discussed and necessary refinements ascertained through human effort, not that there would be universal acceptance of conclusions reached. If the Society had not made an issue of proscribing the research done by theologians of Christendom for their own membership, this would simply be a non-issue.
It's historical for people to study what has been written in the past and then do with that information what they will, for the betterment, it is hoped, of others who read the latest renderings. At best, it can never really be anything more than flawed human reasoning.

today was the first time i've seen a bro wearing a jw.
org lapel pin, actually much, much larger than an actual lapel pin.
square shaped, the background was olive green but the letters were white in bold letters.
Yes, when JWs man the literature cart, it is current policy NOT to address passersby and offer publications. I did not receive an explanation as to why.
